Telford welcomes Guinness World Record holders

Guinness World Record holders and cycle duo, SteLa Tandem, will cycle into the Ironbridge Gorge in Telford to host a special event to celebrate their epic global journey and to inspire adventure seekers and explorers with their talk. 

The event, aptly named, “Around the World Record”,  will be hosted at Coalport YHA on Wednesday 15 November from 6pm.  The FREE to attend event is being hosted and supported by UK tandem specialist and local Bicycle Shop, The Tandem Shop and Bicycle by Design who supported the cycle challengers through their global adventure. 

Audiences attending the event will meet the dynamic husband-and-wife duo, Stevie and Laura, who hold the Guinness World Record for circumnavigating the World on Tandem in 179 days, 12 hours and 26 minutes. The event promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as the charismatic team talk through the adventures they enjoyed, the challenges they endured and how they pushed through all the boundaries of mind, body, and spirit to conquer the world and to etch their names in history.

Talking ahead of the event, Stevie and Laura reflected on the challenge of a lifetime and why this event meant so much to them:  “Cycle challenges really do not come any bigger than this one and so we are delighted not only to have achieved the world record but to have the chance to share our epic feet back in the place our amazing cycle expedition began.  We met Peter Bird, owner of The Tandem Shop and Bicycles by Design over 2 years ago and we knew we were in great hands.  Peter gave us the wings to make the challenge possible, building us a specialist coupling tandem and providing technical support throughout the trip when needed.

The event will also see the book launch of SteLa, and audiences at the event will have the chance to purchase the new book and get it personally signed by the record breakers themselves.

The event will include a lively Q&A session and after all the talk there will be a chance to continue the adventure by joining Stevie and Laurie for a drink at the Coalport YHA bar and to book a table for dinner.
