5 fun things for families to do in Telford 

1.    Picnic with the alpacas. Pop your favourite foods in a hamper and head to Frankly Alpacas at Mad House Farm for al-fresco dining with a four-legged difference! Paca Picnics are surprisingly zen thanks to the tranquil rural setting and the peaceful presence of a herd of furry alpacas. There are meet-and-greet sessions, too.

2.    Have a blast in the age of steam. Step back in time in Blists Hill Victorian Town. Visit the iconic blast furnaces, learn to candle dip, dress up Victorian style and snap a selfie, swing by the Victorian funfair, and run wild at Madeley Wood Co. Outdoor Adventure park. 

3.    Take your pick from two heritage steam railways. We’re lucky to have both Telford Steam and Severn Valley Railways puffing through the Telford countryside. Climb aboard a Severn Valley vintage steam train for beautiful views of the Severn Valley. Or treat little ones to a winter wonderland on the Polar Express at Telford Steam Railway.

4.    Take a walk on the wild side with all sorts of animals – and dinosaurs! Hoo Zoo & Dinosaur World is home to raccoons, badgers, wolves, wallabies and the largest rodent in the world. Oh! And the woods are inhabited by moving dino models! In Telford Park’s Exotic Zoo, you’ll find everything from marmosets and mongooses to millipedes!

5.    Reach for the sky! Get your adrenalin pumping with a bouldering sesh at Newport Rocks indoor climbing centre. Jump through the trees at Telford Town Park’s Skyreach attraction. Or get your bounce on at Airea51, an indoor trampoline park with 54 trampolines, an inflatable assault course, ninja experience and giant foam pit.
