Embers Cafe

About

Welcome to Embers, your gateway to an immersive dining experience nestled in the serene woodlands of Coalbrookdale, in the world-famous Ironbridge Gorge. Just a 5-minute stroll from Ironbridge high street, you’ll find us at the Greenwood Centre site, where we create culinary magic.

Embers is more than just a café, it’s a place where fire-cooked food comes to life. We serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch, and every Thursday night, we open for dinner. Each month, we introduce a new theme, offering an authentic taste of the world right here in Shropshire. Our menu is diverse, featuring sandwiches, small plates, coffee, and cakes, all inspired by our fires.

Immerse yourself in the theatre of fire-cooked cuisine at Embers, where our rolling schedule of events, workshops, and guest chef kitchen collaborations and tasting menus, promise a unique and tantalizing experience every time.

But what truly sets us apart is our commitment to local produce. We’re passionate about the producers of Shropshire and wherever possible, we use local ingredients and suppliers to complete our food and drinks menus. This not only helps us to be more sustainable but also allows us to support our neighbouring artisan businesses. Many of these businesses have become friends through our shared love for amazing produce and quality.

By working together, we all become better, stronger, and everyone benefits, including our customers. So, come join us at Embers, where the food is as warm as the company.

Embers founder Adam Purnell

Everything we do iat Embers is inspired by our founder, Adam's love of food, fire and the great outdoors.

Our own Adam Purnell, aka the "Shropshire Lad" is one of the countries most progressive and innovative chefs, who has crafted a unique profile for his fire cooked food.  Adam has established a solid reputation as a live fire chef, not just locally, but nationally. He is known for delivering pop-ups and events, hosting and demonstrating on fire cookery stages across the UK, and conducting regular public classes in the art of cooking with fire.

His influence extends across multiple social media platforms, and he has made several television appearances. These include winning Heston Blumenthal’s show ‘Crazy Delicious’ on Netflix and Channel 4, a guest slot on Nadia Hussein’s show ‘Fast Flavour’, and more recently, as a critic on MasterChef the Professionals, where he was described as ‘one of the leaders in the UK street food and pop-up scene’.

Adam’s cooking style is straightforward and uncomplicated. He believes in taking the best of the available ingredients, allowing their bold natural flavours to collide, and then introducing them to the fire. This approach, he says, ‘elevates flavours to levels that cannot be achieved in a normal kitchen’.
